What Next???

Half.
What do you think of when you hear this word? The word “half” often has a negative connotation; however, it can be viewed in a positive or negative context depending on your perspective. For example, think of the question, “Is the glass half empty or half full?” This common expression challenges your perspective. You can either notice that half of the drink is missing or notice that you have half of a drink. Although both perspectives refer to the same amount of the drink, whichever one you chose can determine your attitude towards other things or events in your life. Now, you may be wondering, why are we discussing the concept of “half”?
July marks halfway through the year, which means we are almost halfway through 2018! For many, that means another year of school is finished, and for others it means you’ve made it halfway through the work year. But similar to the “glass half full” expression, I challenge you to change your perspective on the past half-year. Rather than thinking “I made it,” I encourage you to look at it as “I succeeded”. This shift from surviving to thriving will allow you to focus on what you accomplished and help you determine what you may want to continue in the second half of this year.
Which brings me to my second point. You still have more than half of 2018 to accomplish anything you want! Whether your goal for this year was to finish a project you’ve been pushing back, to break an existing bad habit, or to improve a relationship with someone close to you, use this halfway mark as a fresh start to put new energy into your goals or even create new goals. There is no time like the present to start doing things that will make you a happier, healthier person.
Overall, as we enter into this second half, try to always keep a positive attitude and an optimistic perspective on whatever comes your way. Remember, just like the second half of a sports game, it’s important to finish strong and never give up!
Here are a few halfway quotes to keep you motivated!
