PAVE the WAY

P.A.V.E. the Way is a program dedicated to supporting refugee students navigate the college application process!
  • A collaboration between Catholic Charities, Assumption High School & Sacred Heart Academy (and soon St. Xavier & Trinity High Schools).
  • A student-initiated program
  • Includes student mentoring, which connects native born high school students with those resettled in the United States
  • Workshops led by college counselors
  • Assistance with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Provides communication and education about local resources
Our goal:  to help each student attain his or her educational goals and reach their fullest potential!
 INSPIRATION THROUGH CONNECTION:

P.A.V.E. the Way began with a simple interview.   Emma Bartley wanted to learn about the experience of being a refugee resettled in the United States. Through the help of Alix Davidson at Catholic Charities, she had the opportunity to meet an intelligent and talented refugee girl, Malkia Wakuika. Malkia aspired to go to college and Emma wanted to ensure she had the resources she needed to make that dream a reality!  And so it began! Read more about the program launch HERE!

THE FIRST ACCEPTANCE LETTER HAS ARRIVED!!

Congratulations to Malkia!  She has received her first college acceptance letter from Hanover College!  We are so proud of you Malkia!
