"Though she be but little, she is fierce." William Shakespeare

Fearless Girl Statue

A bronze statue of a four foot girl was placed in front of the 7,000 pound “Charging Bull” statue outside of Wall Street.

The statue, placed between 4 & 6 AM on International Women’s Day, quickly captivated viewers.

“Fearless Girl” was created by a woman named Kristen Visbal, who based the statue on two seven and nine-year-old girls. The little girl has her fists on her hips and stares confidently at the bull in front of her, which represents Wall Street. She appears secure in her capabilities.

The statue calls attention to the lack of female representation on corporate boards.  Visbal says that her statue is “a work which reminds us today’s working woman is here to stay and has taken her place in the nation’s financial district.”

The statue should be an inspiration to all girls; we should be confident in who we are, the talents that we have, and our ability to do anything we set our minds to!
