Fun Things to Do Over the Summer!
written by Rachel W.
School’s out and summer is here! Having nothing to do is nice, but in order to curb boredom here are some fun ideas for activities you can do during these next few months.
Spend time in nature!
Going on a hike is a great way to hang out with friends while also getting great exercise. You could pack lunch and have a cute picnic. Or if you’re willing to spend some money, you could buy an Eno (https://www.eaglesnestoutfittersinc.com/) and just relax outside. Take a break from life and turn off your phone – you will be grateful you did! Just don’t forget the bug spray and sunscreen.
Stake out popular food spots where you live.
Whether it’s a world-renowned ice cream shop or a new pizza place, it’s fun to be part of the hype surrounding in-demand places. Grab a group of people, take a date, or go by yourself and make the trip special! Take silly pictures for Instagram or sing your heart out in the car on the way there.
Go to a free concert or music festival!
There’s nothing quite like the feeling of being at a concert, but tickets can sometimes be super expensive. However, finding free concerts can be a great way to save money, and they’re often more relaxed than normal concerts (this is great if you don’t like big crowds!). Or, if you are a fan of an artist touring somewhere near where you live, you can save up money to finally see them in person! Also, music festivals are a fun way to connect with other people with a similar music taste as you and are overall a great experience, even if you just go to hang out with your friends.
Have a movie/Netflix marathon.
Catch up on your favorite show or re-watch your favorite movie series! This is the perfect idea for a rainy day if you don’t feel like going out. If you want to make the day even more enjoyable, you can pop popcorn and eat candy while you cuddle up on the couch or in bed!
Go laser-tagging, mini-golfing, or anything in between!
It’s safe to say that these classic summer activities are pretty fun. Look on social media or in the news to find great discounts for the best places near you!
Take a trip to a museum.
I know what you’re probably thinking – boring! But, museums can be extremely interesting and fun if you allow yourself to get immersed in your surroundings. Planetariums offer an astonishing look at the night sky and are amazing to go to if you like looking at the stars. Some places, especially science and art museums, even have interactive exhibits so you can learn hands-on!
One last thing to remember is that no matter where you go or who you are with, you can make any activity an adventure! I hope you all have a fun and safe summer! 🙂
