How to Make Your 2018 More POSITIVE!
written by Rachel W.
A new year means a fresh start for you and your relationships! Leaving any grudges or disagreements behind in 2017 will help you put the right foot forward in 2018!
Starting with a clean slate in the new year may seem a little cliché (“new year new me!”), but in reality, this is a golden opportunity to make sure you are on good terms with everyone! A quote I love sums this up perfectly:
“Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.” – Oprah Winfrey
I think this is a great summary as to why forgiveness is so important! Every new year is the start of a new story, and the best way to keep 2018 positive is to make sure any ongoing problems you have are resolved.
That being said, forgiveness can seem like a daunting task sometimes – and to be honest, a lot of the time it is. Here are some tips to keep in mind if you are struggling to forgive:
- Stay optimistic! Negativity can quickly make a situation turn sour and ultimately will not accomplish anything. Positivity is contagious and can help resolve any conflict!
- Keep a level head. It can sometimes be hard to keep emotions in check when there is a disagreement, but staying collected helps both sides in the long run.
- Try to see things from the other person’s point of view! Sometimes we must take it upon ourselves to find our own faults, and once we do that it is easier to see why someone may be upset. The best way to end an argument is to work together and be on the same page.
Lastly, the best thing you can do is to simply agree to start over! “Forgive and forget” can be a really powerful tool for repairing relationships in the new year if both parties find that in their best interest. Just remember that starting over doesn’t have to be negative – it’s a chance to do better!
“Never be afraid to start over. It’s a new chance to re-build what you want.”
